Goldsborough Creek - Shelton, Wa

The town of Shelton, Washington has pretty much built a playpark without knowing it. this section of river had a 35 foot dam on it, which wasn't serving any purpose other than blocking fish passage. so guess what, they installed 34 wiers. all about 1-2.5 feet in height. at around 500cfs, there are a bunch of great ledge/holes with eddy service. There are also significant wood hazards the entire way down, so be careful. i've found wier 31 (4th from the end) to be the best spot with the least wood hazards. At higher flows, the weir just upstream of the fire hut is great, and has proper eddy service.so check it out. let the town of Shelton know what you think. maybe we can get them to make a few adjustments to better suit paddlers while still helping out our fishy friends.
